Charles âWarrenâ Christopher, 88, of, Morgantown, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009, at Monongalia General Hospital.Warren was born in Point Marion, PA, on February 7, 1921, the son of the late Harry Dayton and Ida Merle Everly Christopher.He graduated from Morgantown High School in 1938. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945 as a pharmacist mate. He saw much action caring for injured sailors in the South Atlantic and Mediterranean theaters during World War II. Included in his Navy experience was a touching account of spending his monthsâ pay to purchase clothing shoes, food and shelter for a small Italian boy who was orphaned when his parents were killed in bombing raids. He worked as a manager in the limestone business until his retirement in 1984, when he returned to Morgantown. He loved the outdoors, deer hunting, fishing, going on an annual beach trip with grandchildren, watching Mountaineer football and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Scottish Rites Shriner. His grandchildren claim that âGrandpa is the funniest person in our familyâ He was always upbeat and loved joking with his grandchildren and others. He is survived by his loving wife, Milka Zilkanich Christopher, daughter, Patricia Ann and husband, Roy Buchsbaum, their children, Nathaniel, Rachael and Michael of Mobile, AL, son, Charles Warren Christopher II and daughter, Deborah Lynne Christopher and son Jordan of Morgantown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph and Dale and a granddaughter, Jennifer Noelle Lemming. Cremation services provided by Hastings Funeral Home. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., from 3-5pm on Saturday, September 19. A memorial service will be held at 5pm in the funeral home. Donations may be made in his memory to the Shriners Children Hospital, 1645 W 8th StErie, PA 16505-5097. 90112
