Betty Mae Dunn Peters, 88, of Morgantown, passed away early Sunday morning, November 23, 2014. She was born in Morgantown on June 14, 1926, a daughter of the late Sheridan and Bessie Meaner Dunn. She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Marie Kenyon and husband Richard, and Brenda Carol Gyorko and husband Rick all of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Jill Squires and husband John, Benjamin Kenyon, Andy Gyorko and wife Angela, and Katie Wise and husband Todd all of Morgantown, and Wesley Gyorko and wife Mary of Harper's Ferry, WV; four great-grandchildren, Peyton and Gabrielle Squires of Morgantown, Logan Gyorko of Harper’s Ferry, WV and Owen Cosner of Morgantown; two brothers, Elmer Dunn of Ohio and Jim Dunn and wife Minnie of Ohio; four sisters, Norma Squires of Kansas, and JoAnn Smith, Rita Townes and husband Jerry, and Judy Dunn all of Morgantown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Peters; brothers Eugene, Earl and Sheridan Dunn, Jr.; and one sister, Gay Case Rude. Betty was a member of the Tyrone Avery Road Methodist Church. She worked at the former Morgan Shirt Factor and provided care for her in-laws. Betty enjoyed spending her time working puzzles, sewing, canning, birds, tending to her flowers and plants, and being surrounded by her family and friends. Betty was a very caring, humble and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. The family wishes to extend many thanks to the nurses and doctors of WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital Floor 9 East, the staff at Sundale Nursing Home, Darlene and all the family and friends who visited, made food and sent prayers. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 5-8 PM and again on Wednesday, November 26th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Karen Tate officiating.
