Elizabeth N. “Libby” Dailey, 85, formerly of Morgantown and Fairmont, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 surrounded by her friends and family at Golden Living Center of Waynesburg, PA. She was born in Fairmont on November 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Milton and Linda Mae (Tennant) Morris. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, W.H. “Bill” Dailey, who passed away in 1983. She was a mom, grandma, Aunt Libby, friend, confidant and beach buddy. She was a member of the Spruce Street United Methodist Church. Growing up, she lived in Fairmont with her family and moved to Morgantown when she was in high school. She met the love of her life in G.C. Murphy in Morgantown while working at the candy counter. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 9916, volunteered at Mon General Hospital, and worked the elections at Mellon Chapel, and was instrumental in bringing public water to rural Monongalia County while a member of the Clinton Water Board. She also enjoyed travelling all over the country on bus tours with her dear friends. She loved to travel to Kure Beach, North Carolina, camp at Big Bear Lake campgrounds, spend weekends at the river with her family, and watch motorcycle races with her husband. She loved her journeys with her friends Ruth and Delbert and the adventures she shared with Barb and Rod. A kind, generous, open minded woman, she will be missed by all that had the opportunity to know her. She is survived by her children, John and Jane Dailey, Bill and Doris Dailey, and Barbara Dailey and Rod Rice; grandchildren, Aaron and Jessica Dailey, Patrick Dailey and Michelle Hayes Dailey, Elisha Dailey, Jessica Richardson and Jay Carter; her great grandchildren, Chance Dailey, Abby Dailey, and Libby Dailey; and nieces, nephews, friends and caretakers. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Conrad and Ruth Goughenour ; great grandchild, Amber Dawn Dailey. The family would like to thank the staff at the Golden Living Center in Waynesburg PA for all of the care, love and friendship they gave freely and in abundance to our mother in the final years of her life, you are all angels in disguise. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Sunday, January 25th from 1-3 & 5-7 PM. A private graveside service will take place at a later date at the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer Association, 1299 Pineview Dr., Morgantown, WV 26505.
