Frank H. Wilkins, 91, of Morgantown, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Ruby Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Morgantown on June 20, 1923, son of the late Captain Frank H. and Lelia Speakman Wilkins. He resided on Riverview Drive in Evansdale for 84 years. He attended Morgantown High School and graduated from Randolph Macon Military Academy, Front Royal Virginia, Class of 42. After graduation he joined his father for a short time in the automobile business before enlisting into the U.S. Air Corps, serving in the South Pacific. He was stationed in Australia, New Guinea, Biak Island, Japan and the Dutch East Indies. After serving 25 months in the military he received his honorable discharge from Fort Knox, Kentucky on Jan 23, 1946. When he returned from the service he continued in the automobile business with his father and his only brother, Ray. They had the Chrysler, Plymouth and Jeep agency for 60 years. He along with his brother established JoReed Motors, selling Lincoln, Mercury and Edsel. He also had Budget Rent a Car at the Morgantown Airport for several years. Frank was a 50 year member of the Morgantown Kiwanis. He leaves behind his loving family to cherish and remember all the wonderful memories they have shared together. His wife of 61 years, Martha Conrad Wilkins, two daughters, Lois Cress and husband George of Morgantown, Yvonne Tait and husband Francis of Morgantown, two sons, Mark E. Wilkins of Ellicott City, MD and Scott D. Wilkins of Morgantown, four grandchildren, Courtney Eckert and fiancée Jeremy Dancer of Morgantown, Jeston Headley of Orlando, FL, Dr. Travis and Samantha Headley of Shreveport, LA and Kraig Tait of Morgantown. Seven great-grandchildren; Cameron, Logan, Cole, Lily and Mackenzie Danser of Morgantown. Colton Reno and Apollo Headley of Shreveport, LA. A nephew, Andrew (Andy) and wife Melody Wilkins of Morganton and niece Audrey Bertram-Foose and husband Mike from Columbus OH. The family of Frank give sincere thanks and appreciation to the medical staff on the 9th floor E of Ruby Memorial Hospital for their love and compassion given to our loved one and to our entire family. In honoring Frank’s wishes Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted to provide cremation services. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 2 PM until the time of the celebration of life service at 3 PM with Rev. Nathan Williamson officiating. A private inurnment will take place at East Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s memory to The Foundation of Mon General Hospital, 1200 JD Anderson Dr, Morgantown, WV 26505 or West Virginia University Children’s Hospital, 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV 26506.
