Roger Kirk Swyck, 72, of Star City, went home to his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, January 30th, 2016. He died at Mon General Hospital and has passed on into his next chapter in his life. He was son of the late Lindsay Kirk Swyck and Edna Dolores Derigo Swyck on January 28th, 1944 in Star City, WV. Roger worked many years in the glass factory in Morgantown and Bellaire, Ohio. He returned to Star City and worked for the Morgantown Utility Board for over 35years. He married Barbara Ann Clemsic Swyck in Hawaii in 1980. Roger was a season ticket holder for over 20 years for the WVU Mountaineers. He and Barbara were avid bowlers for over20 years as well. Roger loved sports and never in his life has he ever missed a superbowl, except for the "50" one this year. Over his lifetime Roger attended "4" Superbowl's and he was very proud of that fact. Roger was very active in his church, Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, where he was head usher for 5:30pm Mass every Saturday. Roger was also a "4th" Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Sons of Italy which he proudly served. Roger never knew a stranger and everywhere he went he knew someone. He was loved by so many and will be missed by even more. Roger is survived by his aunt, Grace Delugos of Star City; his beloved cousin whom was like a sister to him, Mary Ann Derigo Haney of Mapletown, PA; and his other cousin, Gloria Jean Derigo Rosch of Maryland. He is also survived by his sister-in-law whom was his caretaker and her husband Jim and Vicki Herrington of Mount Morris, PA. Also surviving is his nephew, Ryne MacDonald and his niece Skylar Herrington both of Mount Morris, PA of whom he adored and loved with all his heart. A very dear friend whom he considered like a son, Greg Nicholson of Star City and his beloved cats, Butterball and Flurrier. Also survived by several cousins In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Clemsic Swyck whom passed away July 18th, 2015. and his step-father, Charles Bond . Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, Thursday, February 4, from 4-8p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Star City on Friday, Feb. 5 from 10am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Morgantown.
