Ocie Mae (Pounds) Dalton, 93, of the Kingwood Pike, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at her daughter’s home surrounded by family and friends. She was born May 15, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Phoebe Pounds. Ocie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Lester Dalton, on June 13, 2000. She was a great inspiration and caregiver to her family. Ocie loved being with her family, her Mt. Pleasant Church family, and going to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in sports and dances. She would sit for hours watching her great-great grandson at play. She loved life and being with people. She was a great cook and no one ever left her house hungry. Ocie enjoyed showing off her flowers, talking on the phone, going to yard sales, and shopping with her grandchildren. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Charlotte Dalton; a daughter and son-in-law, Twila and Jim Bee; two grandchildren and spouses, Jamie and Derick Gilmore, and Melody and John George; great-grandchildren Alex Andersen and fiancé Kelcy Shreves, Kaylee Andersen, Briana Gilmore, Kelsey Gilmore, Tabby Gilmore, Devin George, Dylan George; and a great-great-grandson Carter Andersen. Ocie was one of twelve children and is survived by three sisters, Loretta Gillum, Bessie Gooding, and Charlotte Dusenberry and spouse David, a sister-in-law Shirley Pounds. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Barkley, Ernie and Dewey Pounds; and five sisters, Margaret Richards, Rosa Uphold, Mary Dalton, Betty Gibson, and Ruth Ann Austin. The family would like to send a special thank you to Morgantown Hospice, Mt. Pleasant Church Family, friends, family, and community. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 4-9 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Mt. Pleasant Church, Kingwood Pike, on Monday from 10-11 a.m., the time of the service with Pastor Lynda Masters officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
