Harold Robert (Bob) Scott, 81, passed away on January 29, 2017 at the Good Samaritan of Barbour County in Belington, WV. Bob was born in Melcroft, PA on July 7, 1935, to the late Harold F. and Nellie Hagar Scott. He grew up in Bobtown, PA, where he graduated from Point Marion High School then later served in the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, Bob was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Olathe, Kansas from 1956 to 1958 and then served aboard the USS Lake Champlain from 1958 to 1960. After his military service, Bob worked at the FORD assembly plant in Berea, Ohio, until joining the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller at the Oberlin Enroute Center. He later worked as a Facility Representative for the Department of Energy at the Savannah River Project. Upon retirement, Bob moved back to Bobtown, PA from Aiken, SC to be near, and assist, his parents. Bob was an avid outdoor sportsman. It wasn’t uncommon to find him hunting deer in Green County Pennsylvania, elk in the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico and the Selway-Bitter Root wilderness in Idaho, or fishing Lake Erie in Ohio for perch or walleye. During the long, cold, Pennsylvania and West Virginia winters, you could find Bob sitting in his chair with a hot cup of coffee, reading about the great Frontiersmen of early American history. Bob was full of energy, fun and excitement; he was always jogging, cracking jokes and making people laugh. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Valley of Uniontown, and at one time served as the Worshipful Master of Valley Lodge 459 in Masontown, PA. He married Jackie Cyphert in 2005 and made their home in Morgantown, WV. Jackie stayed by his side and brought joy and happiness to Bob’s life, loving and caring for her husband throughout his illness. He is survived by his loving wife Jackie; his children, Kimberly Sue Lewis and her husband Deven of Fountain Inn, SC., Robert Tyler Scott and his wife Angela of Middletown, MD.; his sister Doris Jean Leech and her husband Joe of Smithfield PA; and his brother Gary Lee Scott and his wife Lisa of Carlsbad, NM. He is also survived by his grandchildren include Matt Seman of Tampa, FL and Garrett Seman of Hilton, Head, SC, Josh Scott of Martinsburg, WV and Holly Scott of Middletown, MD; and great grandchildren include Phoenix and Rayden Scott. In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by a grandchild, Rebecca Jane Lewis. The family would like to thank the staff at the Good Samaritan Society of Barbour County for their expert care of Bob. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home on Friday, February 3rd from 5-7 pm. The Valley Lodge #459 from Masontown, PA will conduct Masonic Services in the funeral home on Friday evening at 6:30.
