James E. "Jim" McNair, 86, of Morgantown, went to live with Jesus on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at his home surrounded by his wife of 61 years and his four daughters. He was born on December 28, 1930, in Bruceton Mills, WV, and graduated from Bruceton High School. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force and served as a member of the Special Forces in Japan during the Korean War. During this time, by the direction of the President of the United States, he was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for saving a family from their burning home. Jim was employed as a tire salesman with Bob Dinsmore Tire for many years until his retirement in 1993. Jim was a loving family man, with an especially kind spirit. He believed in giving to others and helping those in need. He loved spending time with his family, watching sporting events, especially the Mountaineers and the Pirates, and gardening. His home was always filled with family and surrounded with beautiful flowers that he carefully tended. He was dearly loved by his wife, Mary Evelyn Colebank McNair; his daughters and sons-in-law Becky and Kenny Goodwin, Betty Ann and Mike Robey, Cathy and Paul Ingle, and Pam and Cy Logar; a special niece and nephew, Sandy and Harlan Amandus; his grandchildren (who lovingly called him Pappy) Eric Goodwin, Greg Goodwin and wife Cindy, Amanda Smith and husband Wes, Alex Robey and wife Janelle, Brian Logar and wife Amy, and John Logar and wife Jody, and his thirteen great-grandchildren, Bailey, Cierra, Braydon, Kyra, Skylar, Jake, Tristan, Michael, Zanna, Raina, Sam, Talan, and Spencer. A special thank you goes to his brother and sister-in-law Milton and Frances McNair, Marty Ingle, and Paul and Carolyn Smith for their continual love and support. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, Morgantown, WV, on Friday, March 17, from 4-7 pm, and on Saturday, March 18, from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm, with Chaplain Craig Falkenstine officiating. A military interment will follow at the Mt. Union Cemetery.
