Mary Margaret Miller, 86, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Morgantown on March 3, 1931, the daughter of the late Lynn Hastings and LaMarion Mason Hastings. Mary Margaret taught for 33 years in the Ohio school system. She first taught High School Physical Education and coached basketball, softball, and volley ball in the GAA before Title IX. Mary Margaret finished her career as a 7th and 8th grade English teacher. She was a member of the Spruce Street United Methodist Church, former member of Raymond United Methodist Church in Raymond, OH, 50 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, PEO, and Present Day Club. Mary Margaret enjoyed writing poetry with humor, bowling on her coed team with three other men called “the three hits and a miss”, and abbreviated her name to M^3 (M cubed). She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Odell Miller; two sons, Mark C. Miller of Worcester, MA, and Lynn H. Miller (Wendi) of Fort Worth, TX; four grandchildren, Aubrie, Hope, Virginia, and Melody Miller of Fort Worth, TX; and a brother, Boyd Hastings of Morgantown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lynn, Grey, Loyd, and Lyle Hastings. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 3 p.m. at the Spruce Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Timothy Allen officiating.
