Wilbur Eugene McMillen, 74, of Morgantown, passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born in Morgantown on June, 19, 1942, a son of the late Glenn Dale and Della Nicholson McMillen.

 

Wilbur worked as a coal miner for over 25 years and enjoyed spending time with his family and taking time to enjoy the company of friends at Hardees for breakfast. Some of his hobbies were hunting and woodworking and he enjoyed visiting various churches to listen to gospel music. He had a great sense of humor and was able to put a smile on anyone's face.

 

Wilbur is survived by his son: Michael E. McMillen and wife, Jeannie; daughter: Angela Eaglen and husband, Randy; grandchildren: Zack McMillen and wife, Susie, Ben Eaglen, Katlyn Ryan and Sam Ryan; Mother-in-law, Madeline Chipps; Brother: Millard McMillen and wife, Ann; Sisters-in-law: Re Dalton and husband, Rone, Louise McDonald and husband, Wayne, Kathy Dalton and husband, Jr., Betty McMillen, Audrey "Sis" McMillen, Connie McMillen, and Doris McMillen. Along with many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

 

In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Jean Chipps; father-in-law, Wilbur "Chip" Chipps; and brothers: Elmo McMillen and 1st wife, Kay, and 2nd wife, Jean, Lawrence "Beanie" McMillen, Howard McMillen and wife, Vivian, Clarence "Joe" McMillen and wife, Helen, Jim McMillen, Paul McMillen, and Roy "Pooch" McMillen; sisters: Goldie Maxon and husband, "Buck", and Virginia Satterfield and husband, Dave; and several neices and nephews.

 

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 5-8pm and again on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 10am until the time of funeral service at 11am with Pastor Sean Wightman officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
