Shirley Ann Lambert Lawrence, 87, of Morgantown, WV passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017, in Morgantown.

Shirley was born in Dayton, Ohio to Edward P. and Doris M. Lambert on February 17, 1930.

She is a 1948 graduate of Fairview High School. Shirley worked multiple jobs including her own ironing business and newspaper distributer. She was a teacher’s aid at the Doty House and Middletown Freshman High School prior to her work as a switchboard operator at Middletown Hospital.

Shirley loved history, especially the Revolutionary War times, Williamsburg, and Thomas Jefferson. She was an avid reader, enjoyed bird watching, live theater, gardening, her beloved dogs, and Duke Basketball. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church wherever she lived.

Shirley is survived by her son, Gary Lawrence of North Carolina; daughters: Leah of Texas, and Cindy and her husband Rick Stackpole of Florida; grandchildren: Rachel, Stephen, and David all of Florida.  She is also survived by her sister, Linda Harris of Virginia, sister-in-law, Carol Lambert of Ohio, and several nieces and nephews across the country.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Lambert.

A small family service, arranged by Hastings Funeral Home, will be held at a future date. Entombment will follow at the Suncrest United Methodist Church columbarium.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Sundale Nursing Home for many years of outstanding care!
