I knew Mr. Callen through Wanda Harman in Petersburg. While talking to him, I found out that he knew much more about my mother's family cemetery on North Mountain than I did. He was truly a remarkable man. All his family has my sympathy.

Steve, Jr., Mike, and other family members. I was very saddened to hear of your dad's passing. My dad, Doan Harman who passed away in 1991, introduced me to your dad so I have known him for a long time. He was a very good friend of mine, and I am going to miss our telephone conversations. He inspired anyone with whom he came in contact and was most knowledgeable about anything being discussed. He especially loved to converse about education, which was also my profession, and new concepts being introduced. He seemed to know everyone and never forgot their name. In our last conversation just a couple weeks ago, he mentioned that if the Good Lord let him live until this January he would be 93, but he was called home and is now in heaven. You have our deepest condolences.

He will always be Uncle Andy to me. My last visit with him was eating having dinner on the back porch and enjoying his stories. He was one-of-a-kind and had an exceptional spirit. Much love to his sister Frances, children and grandchildren. With love and prayers, Annette
