Andras Szonyi

Andras S. âAndyâ Szonyi, 66, of, Morgantown, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.Andy was born in Magyarboly, Hungary on March 25, 1945, the son of the late Frank and Maria Szonyi.On November 22, 1957, he came to the U.S. and became a citizen on June 18, 1963.He joined the U.S. Marine Corp. on February 7, 1964, in 1965 he was deployed to Vietnam where he was honorably discharged in 1968. In October 1976, he joined the Army Reserve and retired in 1994. He is survived by his wife, whom he married on June 15, 1968, Alice Lee Dodge Szonyi, his children Alison L. (Jeff) Gibson and Elizabeth E. Szonyi, his grandchildren, Shawn N. Szonyi, Jessica L. Breeze, and Codie A. Breeze, his brother, Frank Szonyi, Jr., and sister, Maria Szonyi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Steve Szonyi. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Wednesday, February 8, from 9-11AM. The funeral service will be held at 11AM, Wednesday morning in the funeral home with Rev. James Sabin officiating. Interment will follow in West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown.
