Anna Billie Avakian

Anna Billie Avakian, 102, of Morgantown formerly of San Francisco, CA, passed away at her residence on Monday, October 25, 2021. She was born on October 9, 1919, in Olyphant, PA, a daughter of the late John and Anna Zelenensky Billie. She was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Sabraton and a member of the Ladies Guild. She worked in the hotel industry as a food manager at the Mark Hopkins Hotel for 30 years. She is survived by one daughter and spouse, Georgia and Jerry Buettner of Oakland, CA; three grandchildren, Jason, Christian and Eric; great grandchildren, Christian Corbin, Colin Buettner, Chloe Buettner, Addison Buettner, Michael Buettner, Gabriel Buettner, Raphael Buettner, and Benjamin Buettner; four nephews, Thomas Billie, Michael Billie, Peter Billie and Mark Billie; and one sister-in-law, Mary Billie. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her first husband, George Kresno; second husband, Leo Avakian; four brothers, John, Mike, Peter and Steve; one sister, Helen Morley; and brother-in-law, Wilmer Morley. A graveside service will be held at East Oak Grove Cemetery, Dorsey Avenue, Morgantown, WV on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Father Jim Fraser officiating.
