Barbara Manley Steel

Barbara Manley Steel, a long-time resident of Morgantown, passed away December 18, 2020 of COVID-19. She was born in Detroit on March 12, 1932 and spent her early years in Oregon and North Carolina. She had many academic pursuits but was trained as a mycologist. She was happiest during her frequent hikes in the woods and was delighted when she came across an unfamiliar species of mushroom as part her field studies. She was the widow of Edward M. Steel, Jr. and is survived by her son Philip Steel (Martha) of Washington, D.C. Barbara enjoyed weaving and other crafts, reading, and spending time with family. Her kindness will be missed.
