Bennie Lewis Moran

Bennie Moran, 84, of Morgantown, WV peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, August 7, 2021. He was born in Fairmont, WV, the son of the late Paul and Willa (Purkey) Moran, one of 11 children, 9 of whom survive today. He graduated from East Fairmont High School and received a BA degree from Fairmont State University. He proudly served three years as a paratrooper with the US Army Airborne in Central America and Europe. Bennie received a BA, Masters of Divinity and an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. He founded Faith Baptist Church in Morgantown, WV in 1967, and went on to faithfully serve the Lord for 49 years as the pastor, retiring in 2016. Bennie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Laura (Summers) and three children: Craig (Karen) Moran of Statesville, NC. Lisa (Kevin) Young of Bowie, MD and Amy Moran of Morgantown, WV. He was preceded in death by his first born daughter Beth Ann in 1963. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Justin (Jessica) Moran of Troutman, NC. Sean Moran of Statesville, NC. Andrew (Kaci) Moran of Statesville, NC. John (Chyenne) Dulin of Tunnelton, WV. Mark (Sarah) Young of Bowie, MD. Kaitlyn Young of Lynchburg, VA and Ashly Green of Morgantown, WV. In addition Bennie is survived by 5 great grandchildren; Mason Moran, Eli Moran, Nash Dulin, Savannah Moran and Cooper Dulin. Hastings Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Friends and family will be received at Faith Baptist Church, 809 Greenbag Road, Morgantown on Friday, August 13, 2021, from 3 – 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Treg Spicer officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fairmont.
