Betty Connell

Betty Elaine Connell, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Everettsville on November 19, 1923, the daughter of the late William Clyde Johnson and the late Lilian (Conaway) Johnson. Betty was a graduate of University High School and also graduated from West Virginia University. She was a very active part of the Morgantown community. Betty was a member of the Pines Country Club, where she participated in the Women's Golf League. She also enjoyed the Beaumont Dance Club, Suburban Lanes Women's Bowling League, and was active with a Canasta group. Betty is survived by her son, Rick Connell and his wife Melissa of Morgantown and three grandchildren, Derek, Devon, and Carly Connell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard V. Connell, Sr., and one brother, Robert Johnson. Friends and family will be received at the Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 4:00-5:00 pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 5:00 pm with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
