Betty Jean Staples

Betty Smith Staples, passed away, peacefully, at her home on March 4, 2015. She was born in Belington, WV on April 3, 1926, a daughter of the late Marion “Bear” and Lucy (Biller) Smith. Her beloved family that survive her include: her daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Janet) McCabe, granddaughters, Mrs. Aprel McCabe McCabe, Mrs. Hilary Gross and their children William McCabe and Clara Gross, her niece Mrs. Patty White and her extended family, Ken Moats Sr. , Ken Moats Jr., and Ms. Sherry Howes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Staples and her sisters Grace Scott and Helen Stoneking. Betty’s family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Jason McNair, Tiffany, faculty and all the staff at WVU Family Medicine and Denise at the WVU Heart Institute. A graveside Service will be held for family and friends at Lawnwood Cemetery, Saturday, March 7 at 3:00 p.m. with Kevin Bode officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to The Ranch Thrift Shop, 255 Don Knotts Boulevard, Morgantown, WV 26501, where she enjoyed volunteering.
