Betty Jean Wade

Betty Jean Wade, 69, of Core, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, surrounded by some special friends and family. Hastings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born in Morgantown on August 1, 1945, the daughter of the late Eugene Sturgiss Whipkey and Bertha (Garner) Whipkey. Betty was a wonderful pianist. She played piano at Hagans Christian Church, where she was a lifelong member. She was a strong and loving woman who influenced many lives. She was truly an Angel among us. Betty also loved to garden, and adored all of Gods creation. She was an amazing mother not only to her three children, but to all the many foster kids she helped. She was a wonderful friend to all who were blessed to have known her. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family. She is survived by three children, Michael and wife Melissa Wade, Scott and wife Christy Wade, and Sarah Hedrick; grandchildren Brittney, Brice, Tyler, Stevin, Hannah, Oliver, Wesley and Walter; and her brother, Eugene Whipkey. Friends and family will be received for a gathering at Hagans Christian Church, 1637 Hagans Road, Core, WV 26541 on Sunday, May 3rd from 2 PM to 4 PM where there will be refreshments served. A service will follow with Pastor Isaac Harmon officiating. Come join us in celebrating Betty's life. In lieu of flowers, contributions to cover costs will be received by Hagans Christian Church.
