Betty Powers

Betty Louise Powers, 84, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born in Orlando, WV on February 14, 1930, the daughter of the late James Everett Posey and Dorothy Alice (Scarff) Posey. Betty was a member of the Morgantown Church of God. She was a 1948 graduate of Morgantown High School. Betty was a long time and devoted clerk at Mon County Magistrate Office. She enjoyed gardening, plants and flowers in and around her home. She was known for her strength throughout her life and was a breast cancer survivor. She is survived by her children, Sandi Bickley and husband John of Texas, Sharon Cutright and husband Norman of Morgantown and Randy Powers of Virginia and Robin Powers Walters and husband Justin also of Morgantown; grandchildren, Joel Chase Powers, Ryan Rush, Christopher Cutright, Richard Cutright, Austin Powers, Hanna Powers; Nicholas Corey Powers, Justin Powers and Kiana Medley; great-grandchildren; Sebastian Powers, Logan Powers, Leila Powers, Colby Medley and Alexa Powers; her brothers, Troy Posey and wife Cheryl, James Posey, and Ronnie Posey and wife Donna; aunts, Anita Scarff and Dorothy "Dot" Posey; uncle, Herbert Posey. Also survived by, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by grandchild Will R. Coda; brothers and sisters Eileen Moore, Joy Danser and Loy Posey. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street on Thursday, April 3rd from 5-8p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, April 4th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bill Kettle officiating.
