Betty Lee Ruble

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Betty Lee Ruble (nee Brooks), 89, of Morgantown, peacefully passed away at her home Monday morning, July 4th, 2022. Betty was born February 5th, 1933, in Ward, Kanawha County, WV, the eldest child of the late Joseph Acen and Evaline Leona (Leffingwell) Brooks.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Edward Ruble, one son, Richard Allen Ruble (Belinda), and one sister, Rebecca Sue (Brooks) Gum.

Betty is survived by brother Johnnie Dale Brooks of Churchville, WV, sister Jo Anna (Brooks) Orona of Christiansburg, VA, brother Franklin Delano Brooks of Chicago, and sister Margaret Rose Brooks of Poteau, Oklahoma. Betty is also survived by three sons, David Sotelo (Shonda) of Fairview, TX, John Ruble (Joy) of Fort Worth, TX, Robert Ruble (Martha) of Big Stone Gap, VA. She is also survived by grandchildren Richard Ruble II (Demi), Sara Ruble Manasco (John), Joshua Ruble (Samantha), Jeffrey Ruble, Brandon Ruble (Molly), Jacob Ruble, Tony Sotelo, and a host of great grandchildren.

Born during the Great Depression, Betty is a 1950 graduate of East Bank High School, East Bank, WV. After high school, Betty held several jobs in the Charleston area before entering the U.S. Marine Corps in 1954. After her honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, she attended WV Business College in Clarksburg, training as a business and court stenographer after which she went to work for AeroMech, Inc at Benedum Airport in Bridgeport, WV. Betty later became a full-time homemaker to raise her growing family and in 1972, she and her family relocated to Harrogate, TN. In 1990 with the kids now grown, Betty and Albert returned to West Virginia, settling in Morgantown to care for aging relatives and friends.

Betty stayed active right up to the end, enjoying shopping, gardening, sewing, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by many.

Hastings Funeral Home Omega Crematory is entrusted with her wishes of cremations and that no funeral service be held.
