Catherine Zachar

Catherine Maureen Zachar, 84, of Morgantown, passed away on December 19, 2015, at Ruby Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born in St. Clairsville, Ohio on June 27, 1931, the daughter of the late Julian Street and Elva (Humphrey) Street. She worked for Beaumont Glass Factory and Ace Hardware. She was a proud participant and past president of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Morgantown Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge. Mrs. Zachar resided at her home in the care of her son Craig Zachar and grandson Luis Gardella. The family cannot thank them enough for their loving care. She is survived by Kurt and Sheryl Zachar of Rossville, GA, Kent Zachar and Kathy Barefoot of Westover, Craig Zachar and Laura Gardella of Morgantown, and Catherine and Shawn Bennett of Morgantown; step daughter, Ottie Lynn Galis of Fairfax, VA.; grandchildren, Ann Chilcoat, Alicia Crane, Daniel Zachar, Kristine Zachar, Aaron Zachar, Chas Zachar, Luis Gardella, Elizabeth Maloney, Jimmy Prutilpac, Yvonne Prutilpac, Paul Galis, Lynn Rust, Pam Kershes, Frankie Zachar, and Kasey Hass; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Watson of Dayton, OH and Peggy Beymer of Woodsfield, OH. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her late husband, Frank Zachar; sister, Eunice Paulick; brother, Lenny Street; step son, Col. Frank Zachar; and daughter in law, Nancy Elizabeth Zachar. In keeping with her wishes, cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home, Omega Crematory. A committal service will be held at a later time at the Holly Memorial Gardens in Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Erie Shriner’s Hospital, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
