Charles Morton Blaney, 87, of Westover passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Monongalia General Hospital.Charles was born in Morgantown on September 1, 1924, the son of the late Arthur Hartley Blaney and Mary Pauline Reay Blaney.He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church.He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp having served during WWII on Iwo Jima. Charles graduated from Morgantown High School class of 1942. He was a Lead Stock Keeper for Monongahela Power Company and retired after 42 years of service. He was a loving husband and cherished father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him. Charles is survived by his wife of 65 years, Weymouth Lowery Blaney his daughters, Linnett Cormier and husband, Paul of Fairfax, Va., and Susan Robbins and husband Gary of Manasquan NJ. his grandchildren, Christopher Lyons of Centreville, Va., Craig Lyons of Springfield, Va. Brian Robbins and wife Mindy of Aberdeen, NJ., David Robbins of Arlington, Va. his brother Robert Arthur Blaney and wife, Mary Ann of Morgantown and nieces and nephews. Also survived by special friends Bob and Dee Shaffer of Tunnelton Gary and Marie Huffman of Morgantown and numerous dear friends that have always been there for Mort.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Lillian Kathleen Guntner.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Thursday, July 19 from 6-9pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 20 from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00a.m.with Pastor Bennie Moran officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover, where full Military Honors will be accorded by members of the Marine Corps League.Send condolences online at hastingsfuneralhome.com.
