Charles Glenn Childs

March 5, 1968 — December 4, 2024

Charles Glenn Childs, 56 of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, with his family by his side.

Charles was born in Charleston, WV on March 5, 1968, a son of F. Dale and Martha Childs. He was a 1986 graduate of Morgantown High School and a 1992 graduate of West Virginia University. Professionally, Charles worked nearly 30 years as a chemical engineer in Richmond, VA, before later returning to Morgantown to work at Mylan Pharmaceuticals (Viatris Global).

In his personal life, Charles loved waving his "Terrible Towel," cheering on the Steelers, and rooting for his hometown WVU Mountaineers. He also loved spending quality time with life-long friends playing Dungeons & Dragons, fishing for the biggest catch, and reading fantastical adventures.

Charles will be remembered for his quick wit, humor, and positive outlook. He seized every opportunity to make someone laugh, despite his circumstances. He was a gentle giant who loved teaching children and sharing his Christian faith in the Nazarene Church.

Charles is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 32 years, Lisa Chamberlain Childs; two children, Conner Dale Childs and Claire Chamberlain Childs, both his pride and joy; parents, F. Dale and Martha Childs; brother, Philip Childs (Debbie); brother-in-law, Rick Pinchot; mother-in-law, Patricia Sue Molisee; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nephews and niece; and his three fur babies, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Alicia Childs Pinchot.

His family wishes to express their gratitude to WVU Medicine Hospice for their continual support and exceptional care over the last nine months.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center, 1 Alumni Dr, Morgantown, on Sunday, December 15th at 1:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to The ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd., Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209.
