Charles Downey

Charles Goff Downey, 65, of Halleck Road, Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at his residence.He was born in Morgantown on December 15, 1943, a son of Pauline O. Belt Martin of Morgantown, and the late James D. Downey.He was a self-employed truck driver and heavy machine operator. He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Florence McCauley Downey, whom he married January 22, 1966 two children, Stephanie Florence Louk and her husband James âJoeâ and Charles Goff Downey, Jr. and his wife Vanessa his grandchildren, Nicholas Lawson, Shelbe Louk, Felisha Albright, Victoria Downey, Samantha Downey and Dylan Downey all of Morgantown one brother, Delmas Wayne Downey his mother-in-law, Martha McCarty, his special pets, Grandbear, Bridgette, Sable and G, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, close friends and neighbors.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Arthur Downey and William Edward Downey and two infant sisters.Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 11 AM â" 1 PM Friday, July 24, 2009. The funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday afternoon in the funeral home with Reverend Leonard Gillespie officiating. Interment will follow in the Summers Memorial Cemetery on Halleck Rd.
