Clinton Burns

Clinton Joseph Burns, 81, of Summers School Road passed away March 6, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born December 2, 1934 in Morgantown, son of the late Elmer and Bertha Davis Burns. Clinton worked for Chico Dairy Co. for more than 40 years. He also worked for United Dairy and the Mountain Line Transit. Clinton was a member of the Burns Chapel United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School class for many years. He was an avid Mountaineer fan and also loved to be outside working and playing with his great grandchildren. Clinton is survived by his wife of 59 years, Amanda Marlene Nicholson Burns. He is also survived by two daughters, Susan Bonnell and husband Bobby, and Sandy Gray and husband Doug. One granddaughter, Kristi Shaffer and husband Jon. Two great grandchildren, Emily and Tyler Shaffer, whom he adored. Also, surviving is one sister, Carolyn May, four sisters-in-law, Wilma Burns, Edith Burns, Dana Nicholson, Maxine Hall, and several nieces and nephews. Clinton was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Ivan, and Eldon Burns, one sister, Dorothy Matthews, two brothers-in-law, George Matthews and David May. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Wednesday from 4-9PM. Visitation will continue at Burns Chapel United Methodist Church, Summers School Rd., Morgantown, on Thursday from 10AM until the time of funeral service at 11AM with Rev. Lynda Masters officiating.
