David Lewis

David W. Lewis, Sr., 81, of Morgantown, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 1, 2013, at home. He was born on August 10, 1931 in Morgantown, WV; a son of the late Page and Lourdine Walker Lewis. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone he met. He was Baptist by faith. His greatest enjoyments in life were woodworking, Super 60's, listening to music, long drives with his wife, spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed serving snacks to all who visited Dave's Snack Shack on the rail trail. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Goldie B. Wolfe Lewis; six children and spouses, Donna and Carl Mayfield of Springfield, WV, Wanda and James Martin of Morgantown, David W. Lewis, Jr. of Morgantown, Ernie and Beth Lewis of Fairmont, Debbie and Randy Wilson of Morgantown, and Cathy and Ray Hurt of Morgantown; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one sister, Iretta Hornick of Zelienople, PA. David was preceded in death by his son John B. Lewis, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Grant and Goldie Wolfe, great-granddaughter, Kayla Rogers and his sister, Wilma Rye. Family and friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Tuesday, July 2 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. On Wednesday, July 3rd, Mr. Lewis will be moved to the Nicholson Chapel Church, Summers School Rd., Morgantown where visitation will continue from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00p.m.with Pastor Bennie Moran officiating. Interment will follow at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
