David Reed Hines, 71, of Dorsey Avenue, Morgantown, passed away Thursday morning, May 29, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 5, 1942 in Morgantown, a son of the late Thomas Hines and the late Ruth Reed Hines. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Lois Murray Hines; two daughters, Elizabeth Murray Hines of Spencer, WV and Tammy Jo Hines of Chesterfield, VA; a step-daughter, Laura Gallagher and her husband Patrick of Morgantown; and a sister, Alice M. Rowe and her husband David of Bridgeport. David was a graduate of Morgantown High School, and was a veteran of both the United States Army and United States Navy, having served during Vietnam era and the Persian Gulf War era. He was a self employed painter for many years. He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church where he served as a head usher for many years. Additionally, Dave was a long time member of the Mon Valley Historical Society who enjoyed working with model trains, and was a dedicated member of the Morgantown Elks Lodge #411 where he served as a lodge trustee. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 2-5 PM on Sunday, June 1st and again on Monday, June 2nd from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Douglas Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover with full military honors accorded at the graveside.
