Donald Eugene Price

Donald Eugene Price, 80, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015, at the home he was born in following a brief illness. He was born in Morgantown on August 1, 1935, the son of the late Carroll Davis Price and the late Ruth (Howell) Price. Donald was a graduate of Morgantown High School class of 1953. After graduation from WVU he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he graduated from the OCS School in 1958. He then completed flight school where he was a certified pilot of fixed and rotary wing aircraft. As a pilot he served in Operation “Deep Freeze” and was stationed in Antarctica and Iceland heading up search and rescue missions. After his military service, Donald graduated from the WVU School of Law Class of 1967. Besides practicing law, one of his happiest achievements was leading the Coordinating Committee for Charter Revision followed by being chairman of the Morgantown Charter Board that drafted the current city charter of Morgantown. He is survived by his wife, Janet Sprague Price; sons, Robert Stuart Price of Salt Lake City, UT; Donald Jason Price of Morgantown; step-sons; Douglas Richard Vail and wife Jeannine of Ft. Worth, TX and Christopher Allan Smosna and wife Charity of Lewisville N.C.; 5 step-grandchildren, one niece and three nephews. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother Robert Carroll Price and Sister Susanna Carol Scarff.
