Donna Lee Biess

Donna Lee Biess, widow of the late John J. Biess, and daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia Johnson, died peacefully on June 27, 2023.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Bill Trapmann), son, John (Gloria), and granddaughter, Bonnie, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Donna was born in Morgantown, WV. She studied education at WVU. Donna started her teaching career in Maryland, where she met her husband John. After they married, they moved the family to southern California, where Donna resumed teaching. After retiring, they lived for a number of years in Oxnard, CA. Eventually they moved back East, settling in Morgantown. After John’s passing, Donna relocated to Maryland to be closer to her children.

Donna enjoyed a lively social life. She was an active churchgoer. Her interests included traveling, reading, and time with family and friends. Donna was known for her lively social nature. She will be missed.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Thursday, July 6th from 5-7 PM.

A graveside committal service will take place at Mt. Union Cemetery on Friday, July 7th at 10 AM with Rev. Larry Buckland officiating.
