Doris Ice

After battling the debilitating effects of Lupus for years, Doris Elaine (Maxwell) Ice was freed from her frail earthly body on October 14, 2013. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Challen (Bud) Ice and her family to whom she devoted her life; her three sons and their wives, Larry and Pam, Bob and Cassie, and Jim and Christine; her seven grandchildren and her three great grandchildren. A meek and gentle woman, her faith and family were most important to Doris. She served God, His family and the community as a member of the Church of Christ throughout her life. Born in Salem, WV in 1926, then living in Barrackville, Kingwood and finally Morgantown. She considered everyone family, endearing herself to so many with a warm smile, a kind word or a fresh baked pie. Her home and her kitchen were never closed as she shared her blessings graciously with anyone. There are hundreds that consider her as "mom" having felt the strength, patience and comfort of her gentle touch in their lives. Today, we mourn her death - but celebrate her life. We also want to express our gratitude to her many caregivers over the last years, especially her devoted friend Evelyn LeMasters. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Wednesday Oct. 16 from 2-4 and 6-8. Visitation will continue on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11am. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover.
