Douglas Andrew Burton, 56 of Morgantown left his earthly home on 7-6-2015. Doug, a loving and compassionate son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend moved on to the next dimension after a valiant battle against cancer. From the moment Doug entered into his mother’s arms, his kind and adventurous soul brought smiles and happiness, as well as tears and fears to his five brothers who he made it a goal to torture on a regular basis. His sense of humor was unique, and if you spent any time with him you found yourself laughing out loud to the most cynical things. He was also a great story teller and you could count on 50% of it being true, though you never knew which 50%. Doug was a lover of all things good. Good food, good drink and good cheer. He loved his family, especially his mother Beverly Louden Burton and his father Don Lee Burton (deceased). His five brothers: Don and wife Toni, Dave (deceased), Dann, Dean and wife Debbie, Darren and wife Paula, and all of his nieces and nephews and extended family. He also loved his friends and all fun people with fierce dedication and especially his latest canine, Norton. Doug was the most loyal mountaineer fan and he and his friend Kenny never left a game early, NEVER! He was a huge Cleveland Browns fan and we hope he will help them to win a championship now that he is in the best coach position. He loved a good glass of bourbon, a glass of wine or a salty margarita on the beach. He also loved good music, swimming pools, hot tubs, and was a dapper dresser. His TV heros were Judge Judy, Perry Mason and Fred Sanford, from which he adopted a bit of his personality. Because of his irrational fear that his family would throw him a Steelers themed funeral despite his severe dislike for the team, Doug has been cremated, services provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the Suncrest Village Condos clubhouse on Route 705, Morgantown, on August 22nd at 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations would be considered in his honor to Pet Helpers Inc. at 726 East Park Ave. PMB 311, Fairmont WV 20554.
