Eleanor Hawkins

Eleanor Marie Joseph Hawkins, 82, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Mapleshire Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Morgantown on October 17, 1931, the daughter of the late Harry E. Joseph and Frances Elizabeth (Brady) Joseph. Eleanor was a Nurse’s Aide at WVU Hospital for many years. She also was an amazing baker and held many jobs at a variety of local bakeries over the years. She was a wonderfully loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, all of whom she was so proud. She is survived by her children: Marvin Lewis Hawkins, Jr. “Sonny” (Melissa), Susan Blosser (Glenn), and Pamela Mitter; grandchildren: Bill Mitter, Jr. (Rachel), Kimberly Cole (Donald), Athena Harvey (Dave), Krystal Judy (Matt), Ben Long, Halee Long, and Lisa Harvey; great grandchildren: Lacreasha, Logan, D.J., Allen, and Josh; and brother: Abe Joseph In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Lewis Hawkins, Sr. as well as 8 brothers and 4 sisters. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all of the Mapleshire Nursing Center Family and Amedysis Hospice for all of their loving care given to Eleanor. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Friday, August 29th, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, August 30th, from 12:00 (Noon) until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dan Kimble and Rev. Jenny Williams officiating. In accordance with Eleanor’s wishes, cremation services will follow. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
