Elizabeth Soles

Elizabeth Lucille "Betty Lou" Shelhamer DeVault Soles, age 83, formerly of Morgantown, WV passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 10, 2010. She was born July 11, 1926 in New Kensington, PA and was the only child of Harold Lester and Elizabeth Ivory Shelhamer. She had two sons, Keith Shelhamer DeVault and wife Janet of Morgantown, WV, and Kent Alan DeVault and wife Judy of Palm Bay, FL six grandchildren, Scott Michael DeVault of Morgantown, Stephen Matthew DeVault and wife Kristie of Cranberry Township, PA, Shelley Elizabeth Anderson and husband Robert of Morgantown and Robert Joseph, Christopher Alan and Brian Edward DeVault, all of Palm Bay, FL. She had four great grandchildren, Nathaniel Lee Anderson, and Garrett Matthew, Madison Grace and Zachary William DeVault.She had been married to Cecil Delmar DeVault until their divorce in 1957, and Robert Paul Soles, who preceded her in death in 1984.Betty Lou graduated from Morgantown High School in 1944 and West Virginia University in 1948 with an A.B. in Psychology and Sociology. She worked in several public school systems until she retired in 1991 as a librarian. She had lived in Harrisonburg, VA from 1967 to 1983, and then moved New Market, Va. in 1983.She was a charter member of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls in Morgantown, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine of Morgantown. She was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 5-8 PM Wednesday, July 14, 2010 and again on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the 10:30 AM funeral service with Rev. Jim Kerr officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover.",149987
