Eugene Calvert

Eugene L. "Gene" Calvert, 65, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his residence. He was born September 24, 1947 in Morgantown, a son of the late Eugene G. and Olive A. "Jane" Johnson Calvert. Gene was a spiritual person and had a strong faith in God. He was a lifelong resident of Morgantown and retired as a supervising electronic technician from West Virginia University. He was a hard worker and had a natural ability for building and fixing most things. Gene was a kind hearted and helping person. In his free time, he enjoyed boating. Gene is survived by his son, Scott M. Calvert and his friend and former spouse, Merry Calvert Hayes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Douglas E. Calvert; brother, Terry A. Calvert; maternal grandparents, Mary and Dailey Casteel and paternal grandparents, Ray and Nettie Calvert. In accordance with Gene's wishes, cremation services are being provided by Hastings Funeral Home.
