Ferris Cecchinelli

Ferris Cecchinelli, 95, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Monongalia General Hospital. He was born in Yukon, PA on April 7, 1920, the son of the late Henry and Theresa Lee Cecchinelli. Ferris was the founder/owner of Blue Ridge Beverages for over 62 years along with his son and partner, Gary. Ferris was a graduate of St. Francis High School and was a member of St. Theresa and Saint John Parishes. Ferris fought in World War II and was wounded at the Battle of Monte Cassino, where he received the Purple Heart. He was an original member of the Pines Country Club and was a member for over 60 years in the Sons of Italy. Ferris is survived by his son, Garry Cecchinelli and his wife Albany; his grandchildren, Gary "JR" Cecchinelli, Jr., and Savannah Cecchinelli Oleksa and her husband Tyler, all of Morgantown. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife Bettie Ruth Cecchinelli and a son, Gregory Cecchinelli. The family would like to thank Mon General Hospital for all of its care of Ferris this past week. The family will receive friends at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Tuesday, March 29 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8:30 PM to conclude visitation. Visitation will continue at St. John University Parish, 1481 University Avenue, Morgantown, on Wednesday, March 30 from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Fr. Isaac Haywiser, O.S.B. as celebrant. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
