George Albert "Al" Cole, 96, of Heritage Point, Morgantown, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015, at Madison Center. He was born in Columbia Station, OH on December 13, 1918, the son of the late Charles Frank Cole and the late Helen (Baesel) Cole. Al grew up in Columbia Station, OH, on a farm. He went to high school in Strongsville, OH. He graduated from Fenn College, now Cleveland State, with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He married his high school sweet heart, Cecilia A. Cooper, in 1937. They were married for almost 77 years and had four children and thirteen grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Al worked in Elyria, Ohio for Western Automatic, Cole Excavators in Berea, Ohio and Sterling Faucet, Rockwell in Morgantown. He was a member of the Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts, Strongsville School Board, Indian Guides and a Member of the Suncrest United Methodist Church, and an avid fan of WVU Football, basketball, Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He and his wife had a cottage at Alpine Lake where he loved to play golf, bridge and spend time with his family. He was a loving father, adored grandparent, kind, considerate and wonderful husband and a really good engineer. Al is survived by his wife of 77 years Cecilia A. Cole; sons: Albert W. Cole, Charles Frank Cole; daughters: Joy Piper and Linda Zemke; grandchildren: Debby Weidner, Mickey Piper, Holly Piper, Shelley Marchal, Jenny and Jon Zemke, Charles Cole, Bryan Cole, Cecilia Jean Cole, Amanda Emberson, Dylan Boland, Jill Bryant and Emma Hurley; great-grandchildren: D.J., Teige, Christina, Michelle, Alyssa, Carly, Sydney, Jonathan, Lexy, Anna, Gianluca, Nicolo and Charlie; and sister Nelle Campbell. Also he is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ardis Williams, Marian Edwards and his brother Clarence Cole. Family and friends will be received at Suncrest United Methodist Church, 479 Van Voorhis Road, Morgantown, Wednesday, August 12, from 10:00a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. (noon) with Rev. Matt Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Chapel of Tranquility, Westover.
