George Henry Phillips

George Henry Phillips, of Morgantown, 85, passed away, Saturday, September 30, 2023. He was born on May 5, 1938, son to the late Jasper Blan Phillips and Lucy Mayfield Phillips.

He served in the Military and then went on to work as a federal mine inspector for MSHA, from which he retired. George was also a member of Sturgiss UMC and attended Spruce Street UMC.

George is survived by his wife, Biddie Phillips; three sons: Rodney (Linda) Phillips, Kevin (Connie) Phillips, and Brian (Stacey) Phillips; his brother, Donald Phillips; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Marlin, Dick, Everett and sisters Marth Lee Evanto and Mary Kay Eddy.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Monday, October 2, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, October 3, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bart Thompson officiating. Interment will take place at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
