George William Mcmillen

July 29, 1971 — January 13, 2015

George William McMillen, Jr., 43, of Bunker Hill passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility after his courageous battle with cancer. Born July 29, 1971 in Morgantown, WV. He is the son of Becky Hilling Whaley and husband, Randy Whaley of Bruceton Mills, WV and the late George William McMillen, Sr. In addition to his mother and step-father, he is survived by his wife, Sara Woodford McMillen; one son, Jacob "Jake" McMillen; one brother, Rich McMillen; half sister Heather Gillum; and grandmother, Patricia "Patty" Hilling of Morgantown. He was a member of Connections Community Church in Inwood. George was a South Berkeley youth coach for soccer, baseball, and basketball. He was known all around for his smile, kindness, and giving nature. The majority of his time was spent coaching and mentoring Jake and leaving behind a legacy of faith, hope, and strength, that left a foundation to last throughout his lifetime. Jake was his world. He and Sara had been together for 25 years. They enjoyed going to the beach, sporting events, and spending quiet time at home with Jake. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Joey. Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Pastor Tim Butler conducting a service at 7:00PM. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown, WV with receiving friends from 10:00AM to 12:00 Noon prior to services. Interment will be in Nicholson Chapel Cemetery in Morgantown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to City National Bank of Inwood c/o Myra Robertson for Jake's College Fund, Relay for Life of Berkeley County/George McMillen, or Hospice of the Panhandle.
