Glenn Carman Scafella

September 25, 1937 — June 17, 2014

Glenn Carman Scafella 9/25/1937 to 6/17/2014 Glenn Carman Scafella, 76, continued on his journey to eternal life on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. He was the son of the late Frank Arman and Gwendolyn Florence (Dettmer) Scafella. He was born and raised in Morgantown, WV. After his schooling, he honorably served our country in the Navy from 1954-1958, serving on the aircraft carrier the USS Saratoga. He met the love of his life, Jessie Besancon, from Laurel Run, PA. They married on January 21, 1961. Together, they raised their children in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Colorado. Glenn worked in the construction field operating heavy equipment and was instrumental in building many roads and bridges across the country. He lived a full and adventurous life. In recent years, he has fervently sought the wisdom of God by watching and learning from Shephard's Chapel. He loved traveling, hunting, fishing, gardening, canning his harvests and watching Nascar races. From his many travels and adventures, he loved to share his stories and did so with the eloquence of a true, dynamic story-teller. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jessie, brothers, Dennis and Jim, sisters Louise and JoAnn. He is survived by two brothers, Frank and Raymond (Margaret) both of Morgantown, WV; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis of Kentucky and Martha of Morgantown. He also will be missed by his four children, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; son, Frank of Bruceton Mills (his children Joel, Jamie, Jessica Stepanski, and Erin and grandchild Nickolas); son Glenn of Dallas, PA (wife Dede and children Amy and Casey); daughter Sherrie Lance of Colorado Springs, CO. (husband Nick and children Ryan, Joshua and Christine); daughter Bonnie Wilson of Sweet Valley, PA (daughter Lorelai). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who had brought much joy and fond memories to his life. At Glenn's request, there will be no formal services. The family would like to thank all the love and support from Hud's family and friends and the Hospice Care nurses. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hospice Care Corporation, P.O. Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520. Send condolences online at www.hastingsfuneralhome.com.
