Harold Curry

November 6, 1921 — December 22, 2012

Harold Kirk Curry, 91, of Princeton Ave., Morgantown, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Monongalia General Hospital. Kirk was born in Omar on November 6, 1921, the son of the late William Anderson Curry and the late Gladys Gwendolyn (Kirkendall) Curry. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Mae "Babe" O'Neil Curry; one son, Kenneth Edward Curry and his wife Pat of Bridgeport, WV; four grandchildren, Pete Curry and his wife Kelly of Charleston, WV, Kirk Curry and his wife Mandy of Hurricane, WV, Todd Curry of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Matt Curry of Hilton Head, SC; four great-grandchildren, Grant and Garrett Curry, both of Charleston, WV and Ashton and Preston Curry, both of Hurricane, WV; and one brother-in-law, Robert "Buck" O'Neil and his wife Betty of Morgantown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores Jean Picklesimer and Merle Lee Rock, and one brother Richard Lewis Curry. Kirk was a veteran of the United States Army, seeing extensive action in the European Theatre during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He was a manager of the former South Side Lumber Company in Morgantown. He was a very active member of the Morgantown Elks Lodge, having previously served as it's Exhaulted Ruler. He and his wife were both members of the Pines Country Club and were avid golfers. Along with about 25 other area couples, they helped form the Beaumont Dance Club. Mr. Curry was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Friday, December 28 from 3-6pm and again on Saturday, December 29 from 10AM until the time of the funeral service at-11 AM. After the funeral service and in honoring Mr. Curry's wishes, he will be cremated.
