Harry Lawson

Harry Dale Lawson, 83, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at home with family by his side. Harry was born in Little Falls on June 28, 1932, the son of the late Lester and the late Mary Geneva Steele-Lawson. He retired in 1994 after 44 years of service with the B & O, Chessie and CSX railroad. He was the last surviving founding member, of the 3 original, of Triune-Halleck Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed coon hunting, camping, fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Charlotte Newman Lawson; five children, Beverly Solomon and husband Vic, Jr., James "Bob" Lawson and wife Sharon, David Lawson and wife Anita, Edward "Dale" Lawson and wife Becky and Linda Hess and husband Randy, all of Morgantown; 10 grandchildren, Tracy, Vic III and Shaina Solomon, Robert and John Lawson, Autumn Hartman, Nicholas and Alivia Lawson, Matthew Lawson and Mariah Hess; 8 great-grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren; sister, Lenora McCartney, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Mary Newman; a cousin, Patty Coburn, as well as several nieces and nephews, and one special nephew and niece, Russell and Alecta Lawson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Adrian and sisters, Arlene and Anna Lawson. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the nurses of Morgantown Hospice and, especially to Darla, she was his angel. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown Friday, Oct. 23rd from 5-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Oct. 24th from 9am until the time of the funeral service at 10am with Rev. Peggy Petrich officiating. Interment will follow at Summers Cemetery, Morgantown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Morgantown Hospice, 1063 Maple Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505.
