Harry Mcdowell

Harry Edward McDowell, 63, of Sand Spring Road, Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Monongalia General Hospital. Harry was born in Brownsville, PA on November 25, 1946, the son of Earl S. and Kathern Dennis McDowell. Harry was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during Vietnam. He was a very outspoken yet generous person who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed gun collecting, hunting, fishing, yard work and anything outdoors as well as playing cards, cooking and watching football and boxing. He was a member of the Laborers Union 379. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth Ann Hoy McDowell, a son, Harry McDowell Jr. and wife Darby and a daughter Dee Crites and husband Jeff all of Morgantown, a granddaughter Brittney Crites and 2 grandsons Aaron and Ian McDowell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Darlene, a sister and a brother. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 6-8PM Thursday, 4-8PM on Friday, May 21, and from 10-11AM on Saturday, May 22. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11AM on Saturday with Rev. Julia Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Pisgah, WV.
