J. Robert "Bob" McClain, 79, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013. He was born in Morgantown on January 2, 1934, the son of the late Theodore McClain and Goldie Wamsley McClain. Bob graduated in 1953 from Morgantown High School. He was a journeyman wireman, active shop steward, and union organizer with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Locals 425 and 596 for 35 years. Bob also played Santa for children at Union Christmas parties. After retiring as an electrician, Bob worked for 10 years in the Map Room of the Monongalia County Assessor's Office. He was a member of the Masonic Order, Joseph W. Summers Lodge No. 173. Bob is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Barbara Findlay McClain; daughter Linda K. Lutman of Morgantown; grandchildren Jason Albright, Matthew Veltri, and their respective spouses Roberto Ruiz and Danielle Sauro Veltri; sister Nellie Williams of Morgantown; special cousin Sharon Wamsley; in-laws Joan Jarrett, Shirley Findlay, John Findlay, and Jane and Joe Olexa, among others; and his beloved buddy "Earl Muddy." In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister Virginia Neighbors, and brothers Ted McClain and Bill McClain. In keeping with his wishes, cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown for a time of sharing Friday, August 23rd from 10-11a.m. Family requests no flowers.
