Jack Owen Poling

Jack Owen Poling, 94, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at his home. He was born September 3, 1920 in Cumberland, MD, a son of the late Warren and Frances Poling. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army attaining the Rank of Corporal, assigned to the 353rd Infantry Regiment, Headquarters Company. He was a member of Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church. He worked as a sorter on the mail train, and worked as an Apprentice Plate Printer for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC, and worked as a Postal Clerk at the Sabraton and Morgantown Post Office, having retired as a Rural Route Carrier. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia Poling of Morgantown; step-son, Dale Everetts of Morgantown, granddaughters, Angelica and Christiana Everetts of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Leon, Rex, Richard, and Warren “Junior” Poling and sister, Frances Havenner. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all hospice caregivers that assisted with Jack’s Care. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Friday, May 22nd from 5-8 p.m. Jack will be moved and lie in repose at the Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church, 802 Green Bag Road, Morgantown, Saturday, May 23rd from 9:00a.m.until the time of the service at 10:00a.m.with Pastors Nathan Williamson and Pastor Sean Wightman officiating. Interment, with Full Military Honors accorded, will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV, Tuesday, May 26 at 11:00a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church, PO Box 342, Morgantown, West Virginia 26507.
