James Scott King, 87, of Morgantown, formerly of Wadestown, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Morgantown Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on July 23, 1936, in Wadestown, WV, son of the late James Paul and Dorothy Pearl (Booth) King.
Scott graduated from Clay Battelle High School in 1955.
Scott graduated from Clay Battelle High School in 1955. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in January 1960 and Honorably Discharged in December 1965 having served in Germany during the Berlin Crises. He was employed with Hope Gas Company for 32 years and retired in March 1989. He also served as a member of Suncrest United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Lou (McFarland) King whom he married on January 11, 1964; sister-in-law, Linda M. Watson; brother-in-law, C.B. Watson; and nephews, Bradford A. Watson, wife, Sidrah, and their son, Westleigh, Craig A. Watson, wife, Jennifer, and their children, Phoebe and Max. In addition, he was survived by other close family members and friends.
Friends and family will be received at Suncrest United Methodist Church, 479 Van Voorhis Road, Morgantown, WV 26505 on Saturday October 14th from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Larry Buckland officiating. Inurnment will follow at Suncrest United Methodist Church Columbarium.
