James Stemple

James G. Stemple, 85, of Ridgeway Ave., Morgantown, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009, at his sonâs residence.James was born in Masontown on July 17, 1924, the son of the late Ernest T. and Dovie D. Robinson Stemple.He was a veteran of World War II in which he served in the US Navy.He retired from WVU where he worked for many years in the Physical Plant Department. He was a member of VFW Post 1589 of Masontown and of the Moose Lodge 264 of Morgantown. James is survived by his son, James D. Stemple, his loving caretaker, Teresa Shaffer, grandchildren, Jessica Dailey, Jennifer Burkhammer and Rebecca Shaffer, three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Skylar and Chance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee Streets Stemple, four brothers, Edward, Harry, Willis and Willard Stemple and four sisters, Edna Stemple, Myrtle Brown, Olive Brown and Roslie Fields. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St, Morgantown, from 4-7pm on Tuesday, August 18, and from 9-10am on Wednesday, August 19. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, at 10am with Rev. Jack Streets officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30pm in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Philippi.
