John Richard "Dick" Malcomson, 77, of Cheat Neck, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Mapleshire Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 17, 1937, the son of the late Wilford Glenn Malcomson and Virginia Ellen (Dickinson) Malcomson. Dick graduated from Morgantown High School in 1955. He started his sales career at Jo Reed Motors as their Service Manager and during this time served in the Army Reserves. He went on to work at Morgantown Machine & Hydraulics for 30+ years, 10 of which he spent in Birmingham, AL. He enjoyed sports, mainly Nascar, WVU sports, and golf. He also liked the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. Dick especially loved traveling with his family, whether it was the fall trips to New England with his wife or family vacations to Ocean City, MD. His most enjoyable moments were spending time with his family, and later in life particularly his grandson, Dylan who was the apple of his eye. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Deloris Trickett Malcomson; daughters, Dianna Rice and husband Tom of Morgantown, Denise Malcomson, D.D.S. and fiancé Patten Kazor of Kensington, MD; grandson, Dylan Rice; and brother, William Glenn Malcomson and longtime companion, Joyce Gunn of Houston Texas. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown n Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, Jan. 22 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Interment will follow in Donaldson Cemetery.
