John William Shaffer Iii

John William Shaffer III, 50, of Cheat Neck, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022. He was born October, 5, 1971 in Morgantown, the son of John William Shaffer Jr. and Patricia Ann (Fowler) Shaffer.

John enjoyed riding dirt bikes and was a very accomplished racer. He rode for GNCC. He also enjoyed riding his Harley. John was known and loved by everyone, no one was a stranger to John.

He graduated from University High school in 1989, attended Votech and became a State Certified Welder. John was employed at Wilson Works.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter Lillian "Lilly" Mae Shaffer; girlfriend, Jennifer Wolfe; Many aunts and uncles; one very special aunt, Nancy Wolfe; as well as his best friend, Betty Shaffer, and many, many great friends.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Playford and Bessie Fowler; and paternal grandparents, John William Sr. and Iva Mae Shaffer.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Monday, June 6th from 2-8 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 7th from 1 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2 PM with Rev. Stanley Merrifield officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery.
