John Shawhan

John Howard Shawhan, 74, of Morgantown, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 11, 2014, at his home. John was born in Clarksburg, WV on September 22, 1939, the son of the late Howard Wesley Shawhan and Iota Marie Powell Shawhan. He was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church and a member of the Hermon Lodge #6 AF & AM in Clarksburg. He was a man of many talents and hobbies and participated in many civic and social organizations. He loved his family and took wonderful care of his wife. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Lucille Kacinec Shawhan; daughters Cynthia L. Morris and husband Carl of Morgantown and Stephanie M. Byerly and husband Jeff of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Elizabeth Porchiran and husband Chris, John Tyler Porter, Clayton Porter and Noah Porter; sisters; Margaret Haney of Hepzibah, Mary Lou Bartlett and husband Bill of Ravenswood. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Billie Lee Shawhan and Cora Knapko. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Tuesday, January 14 from 1-4 and 5-8. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry K. Hagedorn officiating.
